The “Sunbather Series” was photographed and printed from l976 to l982. They started with photographs made on public beaches from Chicago to Los Angeles. During the ‘80’s the photographs included a larger landscape, made throughout the west during the many workshops taught on the process.
They are hand colored dye transfer prints, originating from a single black and white 35mm negative. I used the magenta, yellow and cyan dyes to mix colors and apply them to one sheet of matrix film. Each print is unique and all are 16 x 20.
Most of the existing prints are in my archive at the DeGolyer Library, SMU.
