The house may be considered a place for memories to rest; the table is a place we come together for food, drink and conversation or to spend time to read, create or daydream. The table has been a recurring symbol in art for centuries. The objects that are placed on my table were recently acquired from my mother to pass on to my daughters. Although beautiful objects, the sets of china and silver do not have the same meaning in contemporary life as they did in the past. Now removed from the house which nurtured their use and meaning, the objects have lost their context. These interior spaces I have constructed are unbalanced and transitory. The women in the images are both the protectors and the instigators. This narrative construction considers thoughts of beauty, the passing of time and the fragility of the present.
